Ascension Parish ride-sharing ordinance met with unanimous approval
DONALDSONVILLE - Ascension Parish President Kenny Matassa says the Parish Council voted unanimously to adopt his proposed ride-sharing ordinance.
“I am ready to welcome a new business to Ascension Parish,” President Matassa said. “With this ordinance, companies like Uber can provide alternate transportation services to our residents and visitors. From public safety to new jobs to innovation, ride sharing is a great addition to our community.”
Uber, which currently serves Baton Rouge, operates in over 400 cities in 65 countries. Lyft, a competitor, is also seeing great expansion into new markets.
In proposing the ordinance, Matassa said approval of the ordinance could mean reliable transportation options for parish residences and new jobs for interested drivers.
