Armed robbery near Tigerland

Related Story

BATON ROUGE - A string of crimes committed in the Tigerland area over the weekend have police investigating to determine if the cases are connected.

The list of crimes, including two armed robberies, left one LSU student with seven stitches after being robbed at gun point. That student, Hunter D'Arensbourg, said it happened by an apartment complex on East Boyd Drive, just walking distance from the bars.

"I didn't know what to think. I saw the gun in front of my face," D'Arensbourg said.

D'Arensbourg said it was early Sunday morning when he and two of his friends were approached by two men. At gun point, the three were demanded to give up their money and cell phones. D'Arensbourg said the two men became aggravated when he didn't have his cell phone to give, and was pistol whipped.

Police are investigating the armed robbery along with other crimes committed in the area around the same time. Police said in the span of about six hours, four burglaries and another robbery were called in by the popular bar area. D'Arensbourg said both he and his friends were alarmed at the location at which they were robbed.

"I mean my friend that lives in the apartment was scared," D'Arensbourg said. "It was just sketchy that it happened right there."

There has been at least one arrest in relation to one of the cases, but police couldn't release the name of that person.
