Another I-10 widening project
GONZALES- The future of I-10 might include six lanes through much of Ascension Parish.
It's the plan DOTD has for I-10 between Highland Road in East Baton Rouge and Hwy. 22. Three lanes in each direction.
"It's amazing news," said Ascension Parish driver Wendell Smith.
The plans are only in the beginning stages. The state plans to have design work done in 2013.
Between 50,000 and 70,000 drivers use the stretch of I-10 daily.
The project is one of hundreds DOTD will discuss with tax payers at a series of meetings on roadwork.
In the Capital City area, meetings will be held in Amite and the State Capitol.
