Air Quality Awareness Month
BATON ROUGE- May is Air Quality Awareness Month, when we draw attention to things like ozone, pollutants, and air quality standards. This morning, Vivian Aucoin, from the Department of Environmental Quality, and Ann Shaneyfelt, with Louisiana Clean Fuels stopped by 2une In to tell us more about the efforts being made.
May is the start of the summer months, so kids and adults will start to spend more time outside. That makes it the perfect time to start promoting air quality awareness. Louisiana is currently in compliance with the national ozone standards. Keeping clean air can actually help business in our state. When looking for potential places to move, businesses often look at a state's environmental quality.
"You want to know that where you live the air is clean," said Aucoin. "We work very hard to make sure that message is out."
You can find more information about air quality in Louisiana at the Department of Environmental Quality's website.
