AG Holder eulogizes slain deputy US marshal
MOSS POINT, MS - A deputy U.S. marshal who died doing what he loved is being remembered for his service.
Attorney General Eric Holder delivered the eulogy Tuesday for Josie Wells during a funeral service at Wade Baptist Church in Moss Point.
The 27-year-old Wells was killed in a shootout last week near Baton Rouge, Louisiana, while he and other law enforcement officers were trying to arrest a man suspected of killing two people outside a local nightclub.
Holder, who read a message from President Barack Obama, says Wells was reared in law enforcement family and carried on that legacy with pride.
Wells graduated from Jackson State with a criminal-justice degree in 2011 and joined the Marshals Service that year.
Wells' wife, Channing, is pregnant with the couple's first child, a boy.
