91-year-old woman found murdered
NEW ROADS - Sheriff's deputies are trying to figure out why someone beat a 91-year-old woman to death in New Roads.
Family members found Beulah Morris on the floor of her home yesterday. She was lying in a pool of blood, covered with a blanket.
"It's so hard, it was so hard, for me to open the door thinking that I would find my mother lying on the floor," said daughter Connie Morris. "I never thought that."
Morris said her mother was locked in her home, with no sign of a break-in.
"She does not open the door for anybody," said Morris. "If there was a case when she opened that door, it was somebody she knew. Or just somebody that she knew, or she thought she could trust."
Investigators are not sure when she was attacked, but neighbors say her lights have been on for days.
"She would always put her lights on, and when daylight comes, she would turn them off," said one neighbor.
Initial autopsy reports have ruled Morris died from blunt force trauma to the head.
