81-year old man beaten & robbed at home
BATON ROUGE- Paul Morgan, 81, is recovering from head injuries after he was beaten and robbed at his home by an intruder.
The home invasion happened just after midnight on S. Eugene Street near McGrath Street.
Police say a man knocked on Morgan's door and asked to use his phone, then jumped him and stole his T.V.
"The first time he hit me I was almost out, and I really thought he was going to kill me because he kept hitting me five or six times, and I thought he was meant to go ahead and kill me because he was hitting me so hard," said Morgan.
Morgan says he won't be so quick to open his door next time, and hopes he doesn't see the thief in his neighborhood again.
"I ain't gonna open it no more, I don't care who it is," said Morgan, "I could pick him out of a lineup easy, but I don't want to send him any message, if I want to send him something, I'd send him one of these .357s out of the end of the pistol, but you can't do that you know," said Morgan jokingly.
Police say the thief was a white man about 250 lbs. and around six feet tall. If you have information that could lead to an arrest contact BRPD.
