100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE- There are four major elements that the 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge want to see in our community: mentoring, education, health and wellness, and economic development. Next week, the organization will be honoring individuals who embody all of that. This morning, Donna Saurage and John Smith stopped by 2une In to share more about the organization, and the honorees they'll be celebrating.
"It's amazing when you come together with people with a mission that you all believe in, it just breaks down barriers," said Saurage, one of the past honorees.
Next Tuesday, May 5th, the group will hold its Brotherhood Sisterhood Awards Dinner to celebrate the change that's been inspired by the group.
"Often times we only focus on the things that are wrong," said Smith. "This is a celebration of the progress we've made."
The event is being held at the L'Auberge Casino Hotel in Baton Rouge. The reception begins at 6 p.m. and tickets to the dinner are $125. For more information about the 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge or the dinner you can visit their website here.
