MOBILE - Carnival ship blowing it's port of call horn, signaling it's ready to dock. Family and friends are waiting on land nearby as the 3,000 passengers on board have spent five days being tugged into the Mobile, Alabama port.

U.S. Customs agents have already screened passengers, so they can disembark the ship sooner. In a press conference earlier, Carnival said, "it could take 4 to 5 hours to get passengers off the ship."

Carnival says the 3,000 or so passengers have the option of a seven-hour bus ride to the Texas cities of Galveston or Houston or a two-hour trip to New Orleans. Buses are standing by to take them to their next stop.

On Friday, the plan is to move the ship from the cruise ship terminal to the Mobile shipyard for assessment of the repairs.

Once the last guest is off the ship, crew members of the ship has the option to either stay on board or go to a hotel in Mobile.

For workers close to completing their contract, Carnival will compensate them for the full term as they begin their vacation early. For those who recently signed on, we will transfer them to other Carnival ships.
