AMITE - Nine people were arrested in a crime ring bust in St. Helena Parish with deputies recovering more than $10,000 in stolen merchandise.

The arrests come through the combined efforts of the the sheriff's offices in St. Helena and Jefferson parishes. Illegal guns, ammo, drugs and cash totally several thousands of dollars in value were seized during the operation.

"We got our eyes on them, and if you do the crime, you're going to do the time," said Detective Joe Chaney with the St. Helena Parish Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office said the gang of criminals hit up five hunting camps during their crime spree, getting away with a pair of ATVs and other pricey outdoors equipment.

The charges piled up against the ring's members include illegal possession of guns and drugs along with a panoply of other charges.

Deputies say they're still looking to round up one more of the crooks though as a final arrest for a slightly more elusive 10th member is pending.
