A single-engine plane crashed around 1 p.m. just south of the Houma-Terrebonne airport. The Courier in Houma reported that authorities have confirmed at least one death in the crash. Coast Guard Petty Officer Elizabeth Bordelon quotes Terrebonne Parish 911 as saying there was only one person on board the plane.... more »

At least five men have been detained by Mexican security forces for the hijacking of an Aeromexico plane.
The plane is sitting on a runway at Mexico City's international airport. The plane was headed to Mexico City from Cancun.
Passengers and crew members were not harmed.
