LAB Honor WBRZ With Community Station of the Year and Promotion of the Year

The Louisiana Association of Broadcasters (LAB) recognized WBRZ as the recipient of its 2012 Community Station of the Year Award - Year Long Effort. The award recognized Channel 2 for work on projects like Pat's Coats for Kids, Feed a Family, Stuff the Bus, Fill a Prescription, St. Jude's Dream Home, Tigerama, Dancing for Big Buddy, Kite Fest, Recycle Day and others.
The LAB also recognizes one TV station with the most effective, imaginative, creative and successful promotion campaign statewide. WBRZ was honored with the 2012 Promotion of the Year Award for the Troy Landry Swamp Pack Giveaway and Gator Huntin' contests.
Ed Ball, WBRZ's Director of Production, also received the LAB 2012 Distinguished Service Award. This award recognizes an individual who has served 25 years or more in the broadcast industry. Ball has worked at WBRZ for more than 31 years.
The awards were presented at the LAB Annual Prestige Awards banquet held Thursday, March 29, 2012, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Baton Rouge.
WBRZ Gives Away $20,000 Yard Makeover

BATON ROUGE, La. - WBRZ Channel 2 is offering one lucky viewer an opportunity to win a $20,000 yard makeover. The "WBRZ Yard Makeover Contest" starts Saturday, March 17, 2012, and ends on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at noon. Viewers enter the contest by going to WBRZ.com and submitting required information.
One lucky viewer will win the contest from a random drawing. Only residential property is eligible, and entrants must be the legal owner of the property. Viewers must be 18 years or older to enter.
Louisiana Nursery will provide plants for the makeover. Students from LSU's Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture will design the yard, and labor will be provided by Turf-Scape. Sabine Pools, Spas & Furniture will provide accessories.
The winner's name will be announced on WBRZ's morning show, 2une In, on Thursday, April 26, 2012. Then throughout May, 2une In will reveal the makeover as it occurs with the final reveal occurring on Wednesday, May 23, 2012.

WBRZ and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Partner to Save Lives

Baton Rouge, LA - WBRZ Channel 2 is proud to partner with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for the 2012 Baton Rouge St. Jude Dream Home® Giveaway.
Tickets for the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway will be available on Friday, March 9, 2012. Tickets are $100 and may be purchased at area Citizens Bank and Trust as well as area locations of The UPS Store. The Giveaway Special will air on WBRZ Channel 2 on Saturday, June 23, 2012.
The St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway house, built by Alvarez Construction, is located in Carriagewood Estates subdivision in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This year marks the fourteenth year of construction of the St. Jude Dream Home in the Greater Baton Rouge Area. The St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway is the original and longest running home raffle conducted in our community. Proceeds generated from the sale of tickets to win this home directly benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the St. Jude Affiliate Clinic located in Baton Rouge and children locally, nationally and around the world.
