Zachary to get new school zone times
ZACHARY - School is starting earlier this year for students in Zachary. That also means school zone times are changing for drivers.
Zachary High School and Northwestern Middle school zone times will be from 6:30 am to 8:30 am and from 1:45 pm to 3:00 pm.
The elementary school zone times will be from 7:00 am to 9:00 am and from 3:00 to 4:30 pm.
The time changes come during some major construction that's happening on Rollins Rd, which is a main road to get to several of the schools in the city.
Zachary police are expecting some traffic delays because of the new routes parents are going to have to take to drop their kids off and because of the time changes.
"We ask the public to be patient with us. The first three days are going to be very tough. The first couple of weeks are going to be very tough," said police chief David McDavid.
McDavid says the school zone times are subject to change before Monday, but they hope to have the official changes posted to the police department's Facebook page as soon as possible.
