ZACHARY-Zachary has a new leader for the top performing district in the state.

Scott Devillier was voted as superintendent last night.

Devillier is already getting to work. He spent the day introducing himself to students.

He says, " I've been in a couple of schools already this morning and enjoyed the kids. As the superintendent elect."

In 2002, Zachary broke away from the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

Since that time the Zachary Community Board has excelled, ranking number-one for the past eight years in performance scores.

Devillier says he plans to keep it that way with help from the community. "It's parents caring about their children." He adds, " And really working hard with them to raise those expectations. And holding those students to those expectations."
