Zachary board approves land purchase
ZACHARY - The Zachary Community School Board has agreed to purchase four acres of land near Northwestern Middle School from the Zachary Men's Club.
Committee Chairman Scott Swilley says the club has agreed to sell the property for $120,000. Board attorney Ricky McDavid said the city of Zachary must approve the subdivision of the land.
Swilley says the school has been using the property on an informal basis for physical education classes, and the school district has no plans for any other use at this time.
McDavid said he hopes the sale can be final in about a month.
