Zachary beats John Ehret in 5A state title, first championship for Broncos
NEW ORLEANS - In a game pitting a top offense against a superb defense, offense won the day along with the Zachary Broncos for their first-ever state championship as they beat John Ehret 46-12 in the 5A final Saturday night in the Superdome.
The Patriots scored first, but the Broncos responded with two Lindsey Scott touchcdown passes and the Broncos led 13-12 at halftime.
In the 2nd half, the Broncos kept galloping, with another touchdown throw from Scott to make it 20-12: Scott and the Broncos kept pouring it on as they led 27-12 at the end of the 3rd.
The Broncos weren't close to finished.
In the 4th quarter, Scott and the Broncos added another 3 touchdowns to run the score all the way up to the final tally.
