Judge: Zachary PD Assistant Chief should be reinstated
BATON ROUGE - A judge has determined Zachary's former assistant police chief should be reinstated to the department.
Bruce Chaisson was fired three years ago after being accused of harassing a neighbor and threatening coworkers.
Recently, District Judge Mike Caldwell ruled a fire and police civil service board acted unconstitutionally before Chaisson was fired in 2008.
Chaisson says this ends a troubling time for him and his family, and he expects to be paid back salary and benefits. He's not sure if he will actually be able to rejoin the department.
Talks between Chaisson's attorney and the city continue. The neighbor who claimed to have problems with Chaisson has moved out out of state; her family had no comment on the judge's ruling.
