Man killed in Ascension Parish accident
ST. AMANT - Crews had just found the body of a man who fell off a boat in the Diversion Canal when a car crash nearby claimed the life of a Holden man.
According to Fire Chief James Leblanc, the accident happened at 3:00 a.m. Monday morning on Hwy. 22 near the Ascension-Livingston Parish line.
State Police say 48-year-old Lawrence Lambert failed to negotiate a turn, ran into a ditch and hit a protection levee, flipping the truck on its roof. Investigators determined he was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
Toxicology results are unknown at this time.
Originally, the St. Amant Fire Department told WBRZ that it was a young boy that had been killed, but LSP is reporting that Lambert was killed in the crash.
