BATON ROUGE – Mayor Kip Holden announced that the city will kick-off a year-long Bicentennial celebration on New Year's Eve.

The Baton Rouge Bicentennial will kick-off at the 2016 Red Stick Revelry New Year's Eve celebration at The Crest Stage in Glavez Plaza and the North Boulevard Town Square when the Red Stick drops at midnight.

Holden appointed a Bicentennial Committee, with honorary co-chairs Andre Moreau and actress Lynn Whitfield, to plan ways to recognize and celebrate the city's bicentennial.

Visit Baton Rouge will be promoting the bicentennial celebration. More information about the events will be available at  www.BatonRouge200.com, www.facebook.com/BatonRouge200 and on Twitter @BatonRouge200.
