Wrong-way wrecks close I-10W
KENNER - State Police said a wrong-way driver caused at least two wrecks on I-10 West over the Bonnet Carre Spillway this morning, shutting down the interstate in that direction.
Troopers said both wrecks involved 18 wheelers, and a third wreck happened on the spillway when the wrong-way driver hit the rear of another truck.
Several injuries were reported, but no deaths.
Traffic officials reopened one lane of the interstate while they cleared the wreck, then closed it again at 12:30 for vehicle recovery operations. Traffic was diverted onto I-310 South toward Airline.
The queue from this incident spans from I-55 to I-310 on I-10 West, according to state traffic officials.
