Wrecks slow, shut down highways around Baton Rouge
PRAIRIEVILLE - Two wrecks slowed traffic or shut down highways around the Baton Rouge area Friday morning.
Traffic along I-10 East into Ascension Parish remained backed up around noon after a dump truck overturned on the shoulder of the road. The truck was hauling gravel and no one was hurt, but one lane was blocked for hours.
State Police said congestion from that wreck was back past Siegen Lane on I-10 East as of 1 p.m.
A second wreck shut down La 19 at La 955E in East Feliciana Parish around 1 p.m. State Police said two vehicles were involved, and one person had to be flown to the hospital with serious injuries.
LSP estimated the road would be closed in that location for at least an hour.
