PONCHATOULA - Police arrestd an Amite man after they said they found drugs, cash and a rifle in his wrecked car this week.

Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Lyrisson said they arrested Jason Leonard, 38, after the wreck Wednesday on Highway 51 near the intersection with Highway 22.

Lyrisson said officers were going through Lyrisson's car when they found a red plastic box. Inside officers said they found marijuana, a digital scale, a marijuana grinder and a small bottle with marijuana seeds inside. They said they found more than $4,200 in cash and a rifle in the car as well.

Layrisson said officers booked Leonard on charges of possessing drugs with the intent to distribute them, possessing drugs and guns, and possessing drug paraphernalia. He said the box and its content will be sent to the State Police Crime Lab for processing.
