LIVINGSTON - After months of training four hours a day, Buttercup, a 6-month-old Airedale terrier was officially welcomed into the family of U.S. Army Maj. Jesse Greaves.

After two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan, Greaves suffers from PTSD. He sought counseling and learned that a service dog like Buttercup might be the key to living an easier life.

"I'm looking forward to the dynamic he's going to add to the family," said Greaves. "Bringing us a little bit closer after we've been kind of stressed out at points."

Buttercup was trained by Joe Tullier, owner of Acadiana Canine Training in Livingston. As a wounded warrior himself, Tullier jumped at the opportunity to help Greaves by training a dog to fit his needs.

"I'm hoping that this program will be a key tool to helping people recover from the tragedies that they've seen and suffered from on the battlefield," said Tullier. "We're happy for the soldier and what he's going to be doing for him."
