World Food Prize
DES MOINES, IOWA- A man who helps feed more than a 150-million people is this year's recipient of the World Food Prize given by and Iowa-based non-profit foundation.
Fazle Hasan Abed is founder of the Bangladesh Rural Advancement Community, or BRAC. It has led efforts to reduce infant mortality, education, empower women and pay for programs that lift people out of poverty. The programs it created are now in ten other countries.
The World Food Prize is $250,000 and Abed will receive it at a ceremony in October.
