Workshop aims to give girls access to IT careers
BATON ROUGE - Louisiana Women in IT is hosting an event later this month aimed at getting middle-school aged girls involved in the world of information technology with a focus on increasingly important career and life skills.
LaWIT's "IT Girls" Technology Workshop 2.0 hopes to introduce young girls to the world of possibilities offered in the fields of STEM and IT in a time when women's increased involvement in the traditionally male-dominated fields is more important than ever before.
Middle-school, female students attending East Baton Rouge Public Schools are invited to attend the project learning based workshop, focusing on the field of information technology in addition to career and life skills.
The workshop will be held at Lee High STEM and Magnet Academy on Feb. 27 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. For information about registering for the event, contact Sara Moore at (985) 285-2837 or email ITgirls@la-wit.org. To download the official event flyer, click here.
