BAYOU CORNE - Work has once again stopped around the sinkhole in Assumption Parish. Today's police jury blog says work has stopped around the sinkhole until further notice.

According to the post, seismic monitoring found movement of gas and fluid below the sinkhole including water in the sinkhole.

There has also been an increase in bubbling on the western side of the sinkhole.

The process of buying out homes in the area near the sinkhole is underway. This week Governor Jindal visited the sinkhole for the first time.

350 people have been under a mandatory evacuation order since August.
