Woman survives train collision
BOSSIER CITY - Bossier City police are investigating a traffic accident in which a driver escaped from her car just before it was struck by a train.
A city news release says a witness told police that the Saturday night accident happened when a speeding Kia Optima left the roadway in a curve near a railroad crossing.
The car traveled into a ditch and up onto the railroad tracks. The witness said the driver attempted to drive off the tracks as a train approached.
Police said the witness helped the woman out of the car just before the train hit the vehicle. The 45-year old driver was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries she received when her car ran off the road. Police suspect alcohol was a factor in the incident.
