Woman stored cocaine in bags of dog food
A 59-year-old Texas woman has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for possessing six pounds of cocaine in dog food bags in her trunk.
Rhonda Goodson, of Cleveland, Texas, was convicted April 21 of possessing more than 400 grams of cocaine with intent to distribute. She was sentenced Thursday by State District Judge William Knight in Covington, La.
Goodson was arrested by a state trooper on March 12, 2008, after being pulled over for speeding on Interstate 12 in St. Tammany Parish. Authorities say she appeared nervous and gave permission to search her vehicle.
The trooper found the bags that had been emptied, filled with cocaine, then resealed.
Goodson faced a maximum sentence of 30 years.
