Woman sought in counterfeit check case
BATON ROUGE - Detectives with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office released pictures of a woman sought in connection with a counterfeit check case earlier this month.
Detectives said on July 11 the woman tried to cash an altered business check at Rosemary Grocery on Silverleaf Avenue. They said the owner didn't cash it, recognizing it was a counterfeit check.
Deputies said the woman who tried to cash the check was wearing a black top with blue and black striped pants. The check belonged to Ascension Ready Mix in Prairieville, and deputies said they'd earlier reported the banking information on their checks had been compromised.
Anyone with information about the woman's identity or the counterfeit checks should contact the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office at 225-389-5000.
