Woman: Road worker using yard as restroom is the last straw
PRAIRIEVILLE - People who live and work along Highway 73 in Ascension Parish are at their wits' end; they've had enough of the construction delays for work on the highway and are annoyed with construction workers who, they say, are making their neighborhood a pigsty.
One woman says she snapped a picture of a construction worker urinating outdoors near her home. The picture shows a contractor trying to hide behind the door of his truck as he obviously relieves himself.
"It's offensive. You definitely don't want an innocent little one leaving the house and seeing someone peeing out in the open," one woman who asked to remain anonymous said. "It's just terrible. I shouldn't have to see that. No one should have to see that.
The man was standing in the parking lot of a convenience store, which has a public bathroom. Nearby, there is a portable toilet along with a daycare.
"You can't just do that it's against the law," the woman said.
Construction began two years ago and the Department of Transportation now estimates the project will be done in this fall, behind schedule.
The company the worker caught in the picture works for said it will release a statement Thursday.
