DENHAM SPRINGS - Several law enforcement officers are being credited with saving a woman's life after pulling her from a burning wreck this morning in Livingston Parish.
State Police said the wreck happened on Magnolia Bridge Road around 7 a.m. They said the woman passed out behind the wheel of her car, and the vehicle crashed underneath an 18-wheeler.
The St. George Fire Department said one of their off-duty firefighters saw the wreck and stopped to help, breaking a window with his boot to let out smoke building up inside the vehicle. An off-duty Baton Rouge Police office and State Trooper arrived at the scene to help, and they got the woman out of the burning car.
She was taken to a local hospital with only minor injuries, and later released. State Police believe she passed out from a medical condition.
