Woman pleads no contest in pit bull attack
AMITE - A Loranger woman has pleaded no contest to a charge of negligent injury after her pit bull mauled an 8-year-old girl in Hammond in 2012.
The Daily Star reports 40-year-old Bridgette Harper entered her plea Monday.
Harper will be sentenced by state District Judge Elizabeth Wolfe on Oct. 7. She faces a maximum penalty of six months in the Tangipahoa Parish Jail and a fine.
The attack occurred on April 27, 2012.
After the attack, Tangipahoa Parish Animal Control seized the dogs and held them for observation for 10 days. Director Chip Fitz said they were then put down.
