Woman pleads guilty to fraud in disaster aid case
A 33-year-old Tickfaw woman has pleaded guilty to a one-count bill of information charging her with mail fraud linked to aid she received after the 2005 hurricanes.
Shari Wheeler entered the plea and admitted to applying for American Red Cross aid 13 times getting $10,995.
Wheeler faces up to 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and possible restitution to the American Red Cross.
Sentencing is set for Sept. 22.
