Woman killed in wreck, highway shut down
BATON ROUGE - A Baton Rouge woman died this morning after a wreck on Jefferson Highway.
Sheriff's deputies said Shannan Fergeson Taylor, 29, was hit at the intersection of Jefferson and Inniswold around 8:30 a.m.
They said her seat belt didn't work, so she wasn't wearing it when her vehicle was hit and died from injuries sustained in the wreck.
All four lanes of the highway were shut down while deputies investigated the crash.
Deputies are awaiting toxicology from the Coroner's Office to determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
News 2's Brittany Weiss spoke to people who know the victim, and has more on the circumstances surrounding the crash starting at noon.
