BATON ROUGE - Police spent the afternoon searching for two men who broke into a home in the Worthington Estates subdivision.
A woman who lived there said she was taking a nap when someone knocked on the front door, but by the time she got up to check it, she saw three men in her backyard trying to break in.
She immediately ran to the bedroom, grabbed her fiance's rifle and locked herself in the bathroom.
"They were in my bedroom," said the woman, who didn't want to be identified. "Then I could hear them rattling the bathroom door. I sat there on the bathtub. I had the safety off, and if they would have come through the door I would have shot them," she said.
She called 911 and within minutes Baton Rouge Police responded. Dozens of officers searched the area on foot, with K9's and in the air.
A neighbor drove by and tipped them off to a suspicious man walking a few blocks over. One-by-one units sped off toward that location.
One man was detained for questioning, was released according to police.
Neighbors said they haven't seen any crime in the area in years, and most were in shock.
Detectives collected fingerprints and DNA evidence at the scene, but the suspects remain on the run.
