The body of a woman who was found in a canal in Baton Rouge, has been identified.

Police say 29 year-old Jennifer Gonzales, from Zachary, died from trauma to the body.

Gonzales' body was found in a canal near Alamonster Avenue and Greenwell Street.

Her death is being investigated as homicide.

No word yet on any suspects, or a motive in this case.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to call the Baton Rouge Police Department.
