Woman escapes house fire through window
BATON ROUGE - An investigation is underway into an early morning house fire that forced a woman to jump out of a window to safety.
Firefighters responded to the blaze on N. 37th St. near Cain St. just after 5.am Friday.
When firefighters arrived they found flames coming out the back of the house that then spread to the attic.
Officials say the woman living in the home was awaken by smoke and was able to escape the flames by jumping out of a window. She was not hurt.
The Red Cross is assisting the woman.
