Woman, daughter killed when car crashes into canal
THERIOT- A woman and her child died after driving off a road through the wetlands in Terrebonne Parish.
Ashley Worrell, 31, and Delaney Lirette, 3, were killed when Worrell ran off Highway 315, south of Falgout Canal Road around 5 p.m. Wednesday. The truck they were in became submerged.
Volunteer firefighters pulled them both out of the vehicle, but Worrell was pronounced dead at the scene and her child was pronounced dead at the hospital.
It was unclear if the mom and daughter were restrained, State Police said.
