Woman charged with attempted murder in Circle K shooting

BATON ROUGE - Baton Rouge Police have arrested a woman in connection to Sunday afternoon's shooting at a Florida Boulevard Circle K.

21-year-old Taishianna Francois is facing charges of attempted first degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.

The shooting occurred around 2 p.m. on Florida Boulevard near Circle K.  A 17-year-old reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to his torso. A second victim suffered a gunshot wound to his right pinkie finger. Both victims were hospitalized for their injuries, arrest documents note. 

According to arrest documents, Francois returned to the scene and turned herself in. She told police that the victims came to her house in a grey car with three other males and tried to fight her.

She said she got in her car and left the scene to avoid the fight. Francois told police when the grey car followed her, she made a U-turn to lose the grey car. Francois told police that she then shot at the vehicle to scare them off and left the scene.

Francois told police that when she found out she actually hit someone, she decided to return to turn herself in.

There were five people in the car she shot at. She is being charged with five counts of attempted first degree murder.
