A Gonzales man is behind bars for holding a woman against her will, according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say David Caillier, 55, assaulted the woman for several hours and threatened to kill her if she left.

When authorities arrived at the home witnesses said they heard the woman screaming. Deputies attempted to make contact with Caillier several times before asking him over a loud speaker to exit the home.

Caillier was booked on domestic abuse and battery charges. He is currently being held at the Ascension Parish jail.

No details have been released regarding Caillier's relationship with the woman.
