BATON ROUGE - A woman is in Baton Rouge Police custody on Friday after investigators said she tried to run a man over with her car before crashing into a CATS bus with her eight-month-old child in the back seat.

Niesha Wiggins, 20, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated criminal damage to property, simple assault and child desertion.

On Thursday, the victim was walking down the sidewalk when Wiggins drove her car off the road and in his direction. The man said that he felt like Wiggins was trying to run him over.

However, Wiggins failed to hit her intended target and instead crashed into a city bus. After the woman hit the bus, she got into a verbal altercation with the bus driver where Wiggins threatened to hit the driver, according to police.

Officers noted that Wiggins' 8-month-old child was in the back seat of the car during the entire incident. She was also not restrained in a child car seat.

Three witnesses who were inside of the car with Wiggins gave statements about the incidents, along with two passengers of the CATS bus.

Wiggins was arrested on Friday and booked on the above charges.
