BATON ROUGE – A woman has been arrested after she threatened to bomb a hair salon and intentionally started a fire there while people were inside.

The incident occurred when 51-year-old Debra Frank Leger went into the Simply Savonote' Beauty Salon on Sept. 10 in the 6100 block of Florida Boulevard and announced that she was going to bomb the building.

Leger had a 12 ounce Coca Cola can in her hand which she pointed to as the bomb device. Leger then went to the shampoo area of the salon and poured what was believed to be gasoline and set it on fire, then watched it burn and left.

There were 20 people, ranging from three months of age to 65, inside the building at the time of the incident.

Occupants of the building attempted to stop Leger from starting the fire, according to authorities. The owner of the salon stated that he had styled Leger's hair for several years and was previously approached by Leger about a business venture.

The incident caused an estimated $5,000 in damages.

Leger was arrested on charges of aggravated arson and terrorizing.
