BATON ROUGE - Police say two women were arrested Sunday after stabbing each other in a fight on Evangeline Street in September.

Baton Rouge Police say on Sept. 7 around 11:50 p.m., 59-year-old Jessie Jackson got into a fight with Nikeria Payne in the driveway on Evangeline Street.

During the fight, Payne used a sharp object to stab Jackson two times, according to police. Jackson then retreated in to her home, retrieved a steak knife and chased Payne to the end of the property.

While Payne was attempting to flee, she fell to the ground, according to police. Jackson then stabbed Payne approximately 10 times in the torso and extremities, police said.

According to police, due to the fact Jackson re-engaged Payne in the altercation armed with the knife, Jackson became an aggressor. Payne was also charged with second-degree battery.

Both women were transported to a local hospital and received stitches for their stab wounds, police said. Police said Jackson admitted to detectives that she stabbed Payne only after being stabbed herself.
