Woman arrested after shooting, killing dog
A Terrebonne Parish woman was arrested in suspicion of animal cruelty after sheriff's deputies said she shot and killed a dog in Montegut.
Authorities said 43-year-old Precious Ridenour of Montegut was arrested on September 4 in suspicion of cruelty to an animal and unlawfully shooting a firearm.
Deputies said the dog's owner told them she had been walking the dog when it got away and ran toward some goats that were in Ridenour's yard. The owner said she ran into the yard and grabbed the dog by the collar, which is when she said Ridenour came up with a handgun and shot the dog in the chest.
Authorities said no people or animals were in danger before or after the owner gained control of the dog.
Ridenour was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Jail, and bonded out three days later.
Investigators are still asking for witnesses or anyone with information about the case to contact them at at (985) 876-2500.
