BATON ROUGE - Sheriff’s deputies say a disruptive parent was arrested Tuesday afternoon after she was accused of cursing out a middle school principal and threatening to blow up the school.

32-year-old Jamie Bell was booked on charges of assaulting a school teacher, terrorizing, unlawful disruption of operation of a school and entering after forbidden.

Deputies said Bell first came to the attention of law enforcement on Apr. 22 when school administrators at Capitol Middle School contacted them about a parent being disruptive and using explicit language during a school event with parents and students present. At the time, school officials said the woman was banned from school property with a certified letter sent to Bell’s residence stating that she needed to provide proper notice upon returning to campus.

According to the arrest report, Bell returned to campus during another school event on Apr. 27. Once there, she threatened to beat up the principal and pointed her finger into the administrator’s face as she cursed. Witnesses said other teachers had to intervene to prevent the incident from escalating. Witnesses also said the woman claimed she would “blow the school up and no one would stop her.” After being served with the certified letter, Bell had continued to return to campus without providing notice along with becoming violent and belligerent, according to school staff.

Bell was arrested and booked into the EBR Parish Prison on the above charges. She was still behind bars as of 10 a.m. Wednesday.

On Tuesday, deputies reported the arrest of two parents accused of striking an assistant principal in an unrelated incident at another Baton Rouge school.
