Woman accused of stealing thousands of pills
GONZALES - A pharmacy tech has been arrested after investigators found she had taken thousands of hydrocodone and alprazolam pills.
35-year-old Shantrell Landry worked at the CVS Pharmacy in Gonzales where the pills went missing.
Hydrocodone is one of the most prescribed pain killers in the country, while alprazolam treats anxiety and panic disorders.
It was an internal audit done by CVS that revealed the inventory came up missing.
Police say she stole 6,000 hydrocodone pills, and 700 alprazolam tablets while she worked there. Investigators believe she sold the pills to drug dealers making more than $20,000.
Landry has been charged with felony theft and distribution.
