An inadequate Mother's Day gift was apparently the last straw for a woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death early Monday morning in Beaumont, Texas.

Family members say 20-year-old Paige Parkerson stabbed 22-year-old Clifton Barkin to death after he gave her a card and flowers.

Police say the couple had been arguing throughout the weekend.

They have two young children, ages three months and two years.

Parkerson has been booked for first degree murder.

The couple had a history of domestic violence.

Parkerson was arrested this time last year for assault.
