Witness in Baton Rouge slaying beaten to death
BATON ROUGE - Police records show that a Baton Rouge man who was found beaten to death had feared for his life after implicating a suspect in a fatal shooting in January.
The Advocate reports that 31-year-old Shaun Hartley was found slain - apparently by a wooden board - inside a vacant home on Thursday.
Investigative police reports show that Hartley was a witness in the January fatal shooting of Keith Matthews.
The records show that Hartley implicated his former roommate, Shingo J. Edwards, a fellow transvestite prostitute, in Matthews' death.
Edwards was taken into custody in late March after authorities received an anonymous tip that he was staying in a hotel in Lafayette.
