BATON ROUGE - "Without water, we're Arkansas."

That was Ret. U.S. Army General Russell L. Honore's message when he visited 2une In Friday to discuss the GreenARMY Event: Louisiana Water Festival. He and other volunteers with the GreenARMY are inviting everyone to join them at the Louisiana State Capital Saturday.

"This Saturday, we are asking people to stand-up, come to the state capital and ask our elected officials to stand-up for our water," Honore explained.

According to Honore, we're losing more and more water every year, and it will eventually catch up with us. One of the key problems he highlighted was with abandoned oil rigs. The "orphan wells" have been left unattended and are damaging our seafood supply.

"If we lose our water, we lose our crawfish, we lose our rice farms, we lose our ability to get shrimp and then we'll have to change our culture," Honore cautioned.

People will be bused in from New Orleans and Lafayette as the groups attempts to capture lawmakers' attention before the legislative session starts next week. Buses will pick up at 11:00 am and return once the Water Festival ends at 3:00 pm. For more information on the GreenARMY's Water Festival, watch the video or visit their website.
