The Consumer Product Safety Commission says Hanover Direct, Inc. agreed to recall thousands of roman shades and blinds after the death of a 22-month old boy in Iowa. He became tangled and trapped in the pull cord of a roman shade and was found hanging by the neck by his father. About 495,000 roman shades and 28,000 blinds are involved. The recall comes as the industry crafts better standards for making window coverings safer for children.
